02 New HIV Treatment Centers Established in Karachi

KARACHI- Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) established 02 more HIV Treatment Centers  in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, Karachi in order to facilitate HIV patients in an efficient manner.


In totality, SACP has setup 04 more HIV/AIDS treatment centers in the province of Sindh, out of which 02 were established in Karachi, 01 in Sukkur and 01 in Hyderabad.


However, 03 more HIV Treatment Centers would soon be operational in Karachi, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas soon.


Program Manager, Sindh AIDS Control Program, Dr. Muhammad Younis Chachar, told that, SACP had planned  to establish 07 HIV Treatment Centers across the Sindh, out of them 04 have already been made operational, while 03 would be made functional soon.


Currently operating centers are established in  Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, one each in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana Hospitals, for treatment of HIV patients.


The HIV Treatment Centre in Shaheed  Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital would be made functional soon.


Earlier, HIV Treatment Centers were operating in Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, Indus Hospital Karachi, Aga Khan Hospital and two in Larkana district, under the supervision of SACP, to control the prevalence of HIV/AIDS disease within the province of Sindh.
