Dow Dental College New Building Inaugurated

KARACHI- Federal Minister; Interior, Planning, Development and Reforms, Prof Ahsan Iqbal inaugurated Dow Dental College (DDC). He referred to the college as a gift from the Federal Government, for the citizens of Karachi.


Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof Dr. Muhammad Saeed Qureshi, Caretaker Chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Prof Muhammad Arshad Hasan, Pro-Vice Chancellor DUHS, Prof Muhammad Masroor, Prof Zarnaz Wahid, Prof Khawar Saeed Jamali, Registrar Aman Ullah Abbasi, senior faculty members and a large number of students were present at the opening ceremony, held at Muin Auditorium of Dow Medical College.


Prof. Ahsan Iqbal stated that, Pakistan has failed to achieve social indicator and health targets, despite growth in the economy. He urged the students to serve the poor and needy people of the country, after completion of their medical education. Furthermore, he mentioned that the Federal Government has increased Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) budget from 12 billion to 47 billion during last five year tenure.


He also mentioned that University campuses are being established in  Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and  others provinces, to provide higher education opportunities to students across the country. He claimed that our national economy would be among the top 20 countries by year 2030, if growth continues at such a speed.


VC, DUHS, Prof Dr. Saeed Qureshi  informed that, the new building of DDC has been completed before its actual completion time period with immense support of Higher Education Commission. He also mentioned that an Advance Research Laboratory is being established at the 8th floor of Dow Dental College to promote research culture.
