DUHS Sports Week 2018 Begins

KARACHI - Highlighting the importance of physical activities and sports in student’s life, Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Prof Dr Muhammed Saeed Quraishy said that “Education and sports go side by side in a student’s life.


He said sports play a vital role in the development of a healthy mind and physical fitness of a student and keeps them away from adverse activities. Thus, sports make a student prosper in every discipline of life. This he said during opening ceremony of 10th DUHS Annual Sports Week which was held in the cricket ground, Ojha Campus.


The event was attended by the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khawar Saeed Jamali, Prof Dr Muhammad Masroor, Registrar Prof Dr Amanullah Abbasi, Prof Dr Zarnaz Wahid, Prof Dr Zeba Haque, Prof Dr Kartar Dawani and others senior faculty members . Prof Saeed Quraishy further added on in his inaugural speech that the teams and individual participants who appears to be successful in their respective games will be provided an opportunity to join the inter-university sports competition.


The opening speech was followed by the students March Past with their teachers offering salutation to the chief guest and the audience. Tug of War between teachers and students became the interest of the audience in which the students bagged the prize. Badminton was won by the girls of Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation while Adil Khatak stood as Mr. DUHS in the competition.


The sports week will last for two weeks featuring volley ball, track race and other interesting games. The successful participants and teams will be awarded prizes in the prize distribution ceremony on February 8, 2018 at the Dow Medical College.
