Karachi: The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Sindh chapter’s acting President, Haleem Adil Shaikh, has requested the government of Sindh to declare an AIDS emergency in the whole Sindh province.

According to details, Haleem Adil, who is also a parliamentary party leader of the PTI in the Sindh assembly, deposited a resolution in the Sindh assembly for controlling AIDS and declaring an AIDS emergency in Sindh.

Haleem Adil, in this regard, said that AIDS is spreading fast in the districts of Ratodero and Larkana. He stated that the other districts of Sindh are also being affected by AIDS. The health department of Sindh has failed to give basic healthcare facilities to people, and the government hospitals and primary health centres do not have the proper facilities or a sufficient number of doctors to deal with this outbreak, he added.

He informed that previously in Sindh, more than 15000 AIDS/HIV patients were reported. After the recent screening of 11000 people in Ratodero, 547 people tested positive for AIDS. He said that other towns like Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Hyderabad, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sanghar, and Khairpur are also being affected because of the recent outbreak.

He demanded the implementation of an immediate AIDS emergency in the Sindh province and the arranging of screening and testing facilities in every government hospital.
