NICVD Establishes Chest Pain Unit Under Nagan Chowrangi Flyover

KARACHI: National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases – (NICVD) in collaboration with the Government of Sindh and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, has launched its 5th “Chest Pain Unit” in Karachi under Nagan Chowrangi Flyover, to facilitate patients with chest pain with easy access and free of cost services.

Professor Nadeem Qamar (Executive Director, NICVD) stated that after Gulshan, Gulbai, Malir Halt and Qayyumabad Flyovers, NICVD has proudly started its one more Chest Pain Unit, now under Nagan Chowrangi Flyover to serve the people of Karachi at their doorstep. 

He said that since establishment of this facility in May 2017 more than 13,000 patients have visited our chest pain units including approximately 6000 cardiac patients, who have been managed in emergency and; furthermore 977 lives suffering from active heart attack, were saved during May till October 2017.

He said that these units are functionally designed for providing state-of-the-art initial emergency care to heart attack patients and teams of all these units are diligently working to save lives round the clock. Professor Nadeem Qamar further added that very soon more Chest Pain Units will be functional at different localities of Karachi Metropolis. NICVD’s Executive Director also thanked the Government of Sindh and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation for providing endless support to make this possible
