POA Arthroscopy Forum launches Pakistan Knee Arthroscopy Registry

Karachi: POA Arthroscopy Forum launches Pakistan Knee Arthroscopy Registry at the 30th International Pak OrthoCon. The Chairman of POA Arthroscopy Forum, Dr. Khalid Mahmud Shah presented the PKAR at a local hotel in Karachi.

Briefing the distinguished guest and the participants, Dr. Khalid Mahmud Shah said that the registry was developed in order to gauge the real world clinical practices, patient outcomes, safety and comparative effectiveness of the Arthroscopy cases conducted in Pakistan. He added that the registry will enable the observation of the course of disease along with understanding variation in the treatment and outcomes. He said that the need of existence of a national registry was very important in examining the factors influencing prognosis and quality of life for the patients who had gone under arthroscopic treatment.

Talking exclusively to Medical News, He said that the registry was developed keeping in view the best ethical practices. He informed that a pilot study had recently been conducted to validate the pilot which gave insightful knowledge on the history of the patient, history and mechanism of injury and clinical and arthroscopic findings.
