Sero-Biology Lab Being Established At DUHS

KARACHI- Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Prof Dr. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy recently stated that, a Sero- Biology Lab is being built within the university, that will be facilitated with modern equipment.


The lab will be operational within a time period of 3 - 6 months. The Chairman of Pakistan Council of Scientific Research Laboratories (PCSIR) has allowed the students of Dow University to get benefitted with their laboratories. While speaking to the audience, he expressed that, as the Chief Guest at the ceremony, he felt honored to celebrate the accomplishments of the Institute of Bio Medical Sciences, held at Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan Hall, Ojha Campus.


The ceremony was attended by the Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Mohammad Masroor, Prof Dr. Zarnaz Wahid, Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Prof Dr. Shaheen Sharafat, Prof Dr. Shockat, Dr. Saeed Khan, Prof Sarwat Jabeen and other faculty members and students.


Dr. Saeed Qureshi further added that the establishment of this Sero Biology Lab will contribute to the diagnosis of blood diseases and will aid in the preparation of medications through blood. In addition to this Sero Biology Lab, the establishment of Dow Research Institute of Bio Technology and Bio Medical Sciences is also under process. He informed that, previously it was JPMC, that was offering PhD programs to medical students since 10 years. Then, Dow University opened its doors by laying the foundation of IBMS. This institution has been serving Pakistan since a decade.


Speaking at the event, the Director of the Institute Dr. Zeba Haque said that, there are 8 students who have completed their PhD from the Institute of Bio Medical Sciences and 3 are soon to complete their programs which makes a sum of 11 PhD students. There are 67 MPhil students, while 193 MPhil and PhDs are currently registered. She further added that, quality education is the key towards educational revolution in the country.


Dr. Jahan Ara also shared her views on the behalf of  Former Director Masood Anwar Qureshi and Talat Mirza regarding the event and the accomplishments of the institute. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks and distribution of mementos and certificates to the program coordinators, course coordinators and IBMS team.
