Ziauddin University Holds 15th Convocation

KARACHI- Ziauddin University’s 15th Convocation was recently held at the Expo Centre, Karachi,. As many as 504 degrees were awarded to the graduating students of various disciplines and 10 gold medals to the outstanding students.


Recipients of Sir Ziauddin Ahmed Academic Excellence gold medals included, Sana Zainab (Dental Surgery), Seemen Nadir Shah (Bio Medical), Talha Khan Tareen (Media Studies), Syed Faras Haroon Kirmani (Media Studies) Kiran Noor Uddin (Medical Technology), Sumana Binte Shahid (Medical Technology) Mohammad Hasnain Sheikh (Generic), Nisa Momin (Physical Therapy), Aena Saeed (MBBS) and Sidra Munawar (Pharm.D).


Ziauddin University also awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctorate to Sardar Muhammad Yasin Malik for his exemplary and unparalleled services for social outreach and unfailing support to Ziauddin University. On the other hand, Dr. Mirza Tasawer Baig was awarded PhD Degree in Pharmacy, first time by any University in Pakistan.


Chief Guest, Governor Sindh, Muhammad Zubair addressed the students and emphasized on the importance of quality education. He applauded and appreciated all the efforts of the graduating students and their parents in lieu of ensuring safe and secure future to their children.


He praised the efforts of Chancellor, ZU, Dr. Asim and extended his undying support to the university. He added that (late) Dr. Sir Ziauddin Ahmed’s struggle, determination and massive contribution in the field of education and societal development can never be neglected.


He then invited all the faculty members, top graduated students and their parents at the Governor House, as a token of appreciation for their hard work and acknowledgment of their success. He advised all the graduates to aspire high and serve the nation to the best of their abilities.


Chancellor, Ziauddin University, Dr. Asim Hussain addressed the convocation and congratulated all the graduates. “Do not forget the role of the teachers in making you what you are today. You owe them utmost respect. You owe your parents, not only for the upbringing but, for the hard work and sacrifices they made to give you better education and be in a better world.”


He informed everyone that ZU would be the first university of Pakistan, that is offering a bachelor program in the discipline of Speech & Language Therapy, which has now become the College of Speech Language & Hearing Sciences. He also shared that they have started programs like, Civil, Electrical Power and Software Engineering.


Furthermore, Dr. Asim expressed his concerns as to how Pakistan at present is passing through an extremely critical period, both economically and politically. At this stage, maximum contributions should be made to bring about drastic development by restructuring our society’s social structure, with the weapons of education, collectivism and unity.


Prof Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor, Ziauddin University, said that their university is inclined to provide excellent learning environment, updated and advanced form of learning resources, unequivocal learner support via contemporary learning methodologies. He shared how ZU will be establishing two more campuses, in Islamabad and Sukkur. Apart from this, ZU established its very own Campus Management System with Admissions, Payment of Fees, Provision of Results, Registration for Entry Tests, Events and Workshops,  being performed online. Ziauddin University’s Faculty of Pharmacy is the only Institute within Pakistan, recognized by International Pharmaceutical Federation and has been given a membership.
