Aga Khan University in Karachi celebrates 30 years of excellence.

Education is the most effective mode of progress in a society – Prince Kareem Aga Khan

Speaking on the occasion of the 30th Convocation of Aga Khan University (AKU) in Karachi, Prince Kareem Aga Khan said that; today is a historical day for the country and the University. I would like to congratulate all the graduates from the depth of my heart and hope for a bright future of these youngsters. We expect valuable contributions from them towards a progressive society. The Prince stated that education is the key to greater nation-building. The Aga Khan University is passionately serving the humanity and high quality is the hallmark of all its endeavours. We are striving hard to create world class scholars through AKU who are fully competent to meet the emerging challenges of the future.

No one can predict the future dynamics of the global community. However, the civil society can play a critical role in finding numerous solutions. Education enhances the expertise and Leadership capabilities in a nation, therefore the students must have the strength to endure the challenges. The Prince stated. He also said that; We are working towards developing progressive institutions to improve the; Media, Business Management, Tourism, Public Policy, International Relations, Economics and Agricultural sectors in Under-developed countries, especially the Muslim nations, where our students can participate in nation-building initiatives.

In his address to the 30th Convocation, Prince Kareem also told the audience, that; During the decade of 1980's, the AKU was inaugurated with only two functional departments, and today this institution has evolved into a comprehensive educational and health care facility. Earlier, the Prince had personally announced the inauguration of the 30th Convocation ceremony where he was photographed with all the passing out graduates, creating some memorable pictures.

The august ceremony was also graced by many distinguished personalities like; The Governor of Sindh – Dr. Ishrat ul Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh – Syed Qaim Ali Shah, prominent academic experts and several Members of National & Provincial Assemblies along with a large number of Pakistani and international dignitaries.
