PMC cancels contract of company given for MDCAT examination service

Islamabad: Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has recently cancelled the agreement for a joint venture with SOAR Testing and Evaluation Platform (SMC-private) Limited.

SOAR Testing and Evaluation Platform (SMC-private) Limited previously had won the bid for conducting online MDCAT tests for the period of 10 years. According to Amir Masood, the representative of SOAR Testing and Evaluation Platform (SMC-private) Limited, stated that PMC did not enlighten the company about the cancellation of the contract. He got to know about it through advertisements.

Conversely, Dr Malik Shahid, General Secretary for Punjab, Pakistan Medical Association, said that the hiring of this company for conducting MDCAT examination was violating the rules, and it was proved during the hearings at Lahore and Islamabad high courts.

Subsequently, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Health has asked the PMC for elucidation on the MDCAT.
