102 more dengue cases detected in Karachi

KARACHI - Around 102 more dengue fever cases were detected across Karachi in a week, raising the number of dengue patients to 1,687 during last nine months.

According to Sindh Dengue Prevention & Control Programmes’ weekly report, in all 1,732 dengue fever cases were reported in the province from Jan 1 till Sept 27, 2015 and of them, 1,687 were reported from Karachi alone, besides the disease had, so far, claimed three lives in the metropolis.

“At least 102 dengue fever cases were detected in Karachi between Sept 21 and Sept 27, 2015,” the report said.

Giving beak-up of dengue fever cases reported from different cities of Sindh during Jan 1 and Sept 27, 2015, the report said these include 1,687 cases from Karachi, 18 from Hyderabad, eight from Larkana, four each from Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad, three from Thatta, two each from Sukkur and Ghotki and one each from Umer Kot, Sanghar, Shikarpur and Jaccobabad.
