Committee formed by PM Shahbaz visits Thatta, Badin to assess rain damage

KARACHI: The committee formed by Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, visited the districts of Thatta and Badin in Sindh to assess the damage caused by the monsoon rains.

The committee also comprised Sherry Rehman, the federal minister for climate change, Syed Aminul Haque, the federal minister for information technology, and Khialdas Kohistani, a member of the National Assembly.

A delegation of federal ministers viewed the Keti Bandar coastline from above and examined the damage caused by the severe rainfall.

Ghaznafar Ali Qadri, Deputy Commissioner of Thatta, provided a comprehensive briefing on damages to the committee of the federal Minister.

Sadiq Memon, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Hameed Panhwer, and SSP Adeel Chandio were also present at this event.

The team of federal ministers was greeted upon arrival in Badin by Mohammad Ismail Raho, provincial minister, Pir Noorullah Qureshi, special assistant to the chief minister, Taj Mohammad Malah, MPA, Salman Shah, director general PDMA, and Agha Shahnaz Babar, Deputy Commissioner.

The federal ministers toured several regions of Badin city and stated that the country is confronting climate change and that the goal of the committee's visit is to assess the relief efforts, ground situation, and damage caused by record monsoon rains and floods.

Sherry Rehman stated that following the evaluation, the committee would submit a report to the federal and provincial governments regarding the damages so that efforts may be made to rehabilitate the affected regions.

Later, Deputy Commissioner of Badin also provided the committee with a comprehensive briefing on the district's damage and relief efforts.
