India confirms its third Omicron case

AHMEDABAD: India recently reported its third case of the Omicron, a new COVID-19 variant. State authorities announced, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections to 35 million.

According to authorities in Gujarat's western state, the patient who tested positive for Omicron was a 72-year-old Indian man who had resided in Zimbabwe for years before returning to India recently. 

India had latterly reported 8,603 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 34.62 million. The number of deaths increased by 415 to 470,530.

According to the Health Commissioner, Gujrat, a 72-year-old man's sample was sent for genome sequencing after testing positive for the Omicron variant of the COVID-19.

The location where Omicron-infected individual stayed had been turned into a micro-containment zone, and Gujarat officials were tracing and testing other individuals there.  

Manoj Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Gujarat, informed news agencies that "We've isolated him and are monitoring him. A micro containment zone has been made where he is living. In the area, we will do the tracing, testing of people,".
