Private medical, dental institutes initiate admissions

KARACHI: The admissions phase for all private medical and dental schools and universities in Sindh began with the establishment of an online application site by Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU).

The deadline for application submission is January 20, 2022. 

All ambitious applicants for the MBBS and BDS disciplines were encouraged to submit their complete academic details, together with official papers, through the official web portal at (http://www.jsmu.edu.pk), according to Dr Fatima Abid, Director of Admissions, JSMU. Candidates for the MBBS and BDS programmes must submit their preferences for institutes in sequence.

Prof Shahid Rasul, Acting Vice-Chancellor, JSMU, said that JSMU accepts 50 per cent marks in the national MDCAT examination as directed by Dr Azra Pechuhu, Minister of Health, Sindh. He described upholding merit and transparency in the admissions process as JSMU's top priority. JSMU was given the task to conduct the admissions to all private medical and dental colleges and universities in a notification issued by the Sindh Health Department.

This year, the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University in Larkana handles admissions to Sindh's public medical and dentistry institutions and universities. Admissions to medical and dental institutes and universities in Sindh are handled independently. The institution that conducts the admissions process sends the names of successful candidates to the college of their choice, with their merit numbers aligned.
