Lahore hospitals to go green soon: Parvez Elahi

LAHORE: Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Chief Minister of Punjab, ordered the expedited completion of health projects and requested a feasible plan for the progressive transition of government hospitals to solar energy.

During a meeting to discuss current health sector projects, Parvez Elahi ordered a comprehensive study of the solarisation of the hospitals and granted funding for developing the dental facility in Jubilee Town.

He ordered the Institute of Child Health to be constructed through a public-private partnership and stated that the mother and child wing of Ganga Ram Hospital should be finished this month. 

Similarly, he stated that the modernization of DHQ hospitals in Gujranwala and Sahiwal should be completed as soon as possible. The DHQ hospital in Gujranwala was being constructed as a 500-bed teaching hospital. In contrast, the DHQ hospital in Sahiwal would be established as a 773-bed teaching hospital to offer patients the most remarkable healthcare services.

Parvez Elahi ordered that 30 dialysis machines and other equipment be installed at the 250-bed Institute of Urology and Transplantation in Rawalpindi be completed quickly and that the outdoor and emergency block of the Fateh Muhammad Buzdar Institute of Cardiology in DG Khan be made operational quickly. In principle, he approved the release of funding for the installation of a pet scan and cyclotron machine at Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

Soon, Jinnah Hospital's 256-bed trauma centre and emergency room will be functioning. Parvez Elahi also approved installing the most advanced machine in the cancer department of Jinnah Hospital. In addition, the gathering was informed that a 200-bed emergency ward would be built in the General Hospital Arfa Karim Tower in the first phase.
