Lahore to get state-of-the-art memory centre for Alzheimer's, dementia patients: Yasmin Rashid

LAHORE:  Yasmin Rashid, Provincial Health Minister, approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art memory centre for Alzheimer's and dementia patients at the Institute of Mental Health Lahore

While presiding over an important meeting in the Department of Specialized Health Care and Medical Education, Yasmin Rashid made this decision. At the meeting were Punjab Health Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch, Special Secretary Dr Farrukh Naveed, Additional Secretary Dr Hafiz Shahid Latif, Executive Director Dr Mohsen Shaukat, Institute of Mental Health Professor Dr Ali Hashmi, and other C&W Department employees.

During the meeting, Yasmin Rashid discussed several methods to improve patient facilities at the Institute of Mental Health. Dr Hafiz Shahdid Latif, Additional Technical Secretary, and Dr Ali Hashmi, Professor of Psychiatry, informed Yasmin Rashid. Yasmin Rashid, provincial minister of health, stated that a decision had been made to construct a state-of-the-art memory centre inside the Institute of Mental Health. In Pakistan, the Memory Center at the Institute of Mental Health will be the first facility of its sort. 

The Institute of Mental Health has been instructed to take measures for the recruitment of psychologists to fill empty positions. Additionally, male nurses will be hired by the Institute of Mental Health. People with Alzheimer's and dementia will receive assistance through the State-of-the-Art Memory Center at the National Institute of Mental Health.
