MDCAT exam fees should be between Rs. 500, 1000: PMA

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) recently condemned Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) for hiring a firm to conduct MDCAT and proposed that examination fees should be between PKR 500 and PKR 1000.

PMA, a representative body of the medical community, had asserted that examination departments and university professors from renowned universities should be involved in contracting a testing corporation. PMA further lambasted the PMC to fashion a custom-made tender to hire a corporation to oversee the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT).

Furthermore, the association had proposed that the test charges should be set between Rs500 and Rs 1,000, based on the fact that around 200,000 candidates would take the exam, which is a prerequisite for admission to medical and dental institutions at the exact moment.

The SOAR Testing and Evaluation Platform (SMC-PVT) Limited, which had a joint venture with the PMC, conducted MDCAT in September 2021. The company had been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan after filing bids for the tender of MDCAT and did not have an NTN number.
