First International Robotic Surgery Symposium concludes

KARACHI: The conclusion of the first international robotic surgery symposium at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) urged the widespread use of robotic surgery. This two-day conference was attended by around 600 people, including specialists from outside.

Dr Irfan Rizvi, who introduced the various components of the symposium on both days, stated that robotic surgery represents a paradigm change from cutting-edge to standard care. 
Dr Aamir Jafarey of the CBEC, one of the other speakers in the concluding session, spoke on ethical issues in this region.

Dr Aimal Khan, a native of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a colorectal surgeon at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in the United States, emphasized the use of robotic surgery in the large intestine.

During the final session, a general assembly meeting was convened to decide the formation of the Pakistan Society of Robotic Surgery.
