91 more dengue cases surface in Sindh

KARACHI: In the past twenty-four hours, at least 91 new cases of dengue fever have been recorded across the province of Sindh, with 87 of these instances occurring in the Karachi division alone.

From January 1 to September 5, 2022, the Vector-Borne Diseases (VBD) Department of Directorate General Health Services Sindh documented 3,013 dengue cases in the province, 2,641 of which occurred in Karachi.

In September, a total of 445 cases of dengue fever were reported, 434 of which were in the Karachi division. In addition, a death related to dengue disease was recorded in Karachi East.

This year, there were 1,057 instances of dengue fever in Area East, followed by 625 in District Central and 501 in District South, with 175 in the Tharparkar district.

Three to fourteen days after infection, the frequent symptoms of dengue fever include high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pain, eye discomfort, and bone pain. It is also associated with a distinctive skin rash.
