Citizens criticise PM for clubbing

HELSINKI: Finland's prime minister recently came under fire when it was reported that she stayed out partying till morning despite knowing she had been exposed to COVID-19.

Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland, apologised after a gossip magazine published images of her partying until nearly four a.m. at a Helsinki nightclub, just hours after her Pekka Haavisto, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, was diagnosed with COVID-19.

She posted, "My husband and I... had been out to eat, been shopping in town, seen friends and also spent time [enjoying] the evening and nightlife,"

She claimed that despite being infected, she was assured by an authority that the COVID-19 standards did not compel her to isolate.

She further typed, "I should have used better judgement and double-checked the guidance given to me. I am very sorry for not understanding that I needed to do that,"

Opposition parties also chastised Marin for allegedly violating official COVID-19 standards and failing to notice a subsequent text message warning telling her to isolate.
