Karachi: The nursing students in the province of Sindh province are not getting their monthly stipends for the last six months and lack of budget is the reason cited for this non-payment.

Ejaz Ahmed Kelri, focal person Provincial Nurses Association (PNA) Sindh talking to Medical News said that there are 20 School of Nursing established throughout the Sindh province where hundreds of students are not only enrolled but are also performing their duties. This has created a lot of uncertainty among nursing students over non-payment of their stipends.

He said high-ups of health department Sindh should take notice of the issue otherwise health delivery system might be affected due to non-payment of stipends.

The monthly stipend is Rs 860 per month but despite the fact that administration of School of Nursing forwarded the summery of nursing students’ stipend to secretary health nothing positive has come out so far.  The delay may adversely affect the health delivery system in province.
