Celine Dion reveals diagnosis of rare neurological disorder

LAS VEGAS: Canadian singer Celine Dion has recently revealed that she suffers from a rare neurological disorder called Stiff-Person Syndrome.

In an Instagram post doing the rounds of social media, Celine Dion revealed her diagnosis and informed her fans that due to her Stiff-Person Syndrome diagnosis, she shall be postponing her Courage World Tour from Spring 2023 to 2024.

’I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through…It hurts me to tell you that I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February.” her post read.

According to medical experts, Stiff Person Syndrome is associated with muscle spasms, which can, at times, be quite severe.

These muscle spasms can cause falls, severe pain, and sometimes disability. These symptoms can affect a person's daily function including walking or even singing, affecting the vocal cords as well.

This condition is very rare and occurs in only one in a million people. According to neurologists, specialists may come across only 1 or 2 of such cases in their lives.
