Fire at Centaurus Mall: PM Shahbaz intervenes

ISLAMABAD: A massive fire that broke out at the Centaurus Mall in the heart of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, was extinguished by emergency services.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that he had directed all necessary organisations and authorities to act immediately.

Irfan Nawaz Memon, the deputy commissioner of the capital, stated that the shopping centre and surrounding residential buildings would be sealed until a technical team could report "on the structural capability of the towers following this incident."

The police indicated that the entire shopping centre was evacuated without incident, and no injuries were documented.Images on social media depicted a massive plume of smoke rising from the structure and fires inside and outside the shopping centre.

They also showed people attempting to exit the structure. The fire broke out at lunch, with footage showing raging flames near the food court while it was crowded with customers.After two hours, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) reported that the fire was under control.
