Prevention of malpractice in nursing seminar at JSMU

KARACHI: The Institute of Nursing and Midwifery at Jinnah Sindh Medical University hosted a conference to educate nursing students on the ethical and legal concerns in nursing and to prevent the danger of malpractice and carelessness.

Professor Amjad Siraj Memon, vice chancellor, stated that nurses are acknowledged healthcare professionals and key members of the core medical teams. They should construct a robust healthcare system, and nurses must become familiar with the complexities of the legislation regulating their profession.

Rozina Jalaluddin, Principal IoNM-JSMU, stated, while emphasizing the importance of the nursing profession in the healthcare system, that nurses frequently encounter morally demanding situations for which they are held responsible through complaints, formal disciplinary action, and other legal issues.

Margaret Rose, Principal of the National Institute of Child Health's Nursing Department, and Shabana Wazir, NICH Focal Person, were the session's guest speakers. They discussed various legal concerns relating to the nursing profession, including licensure, training, and care standards.

Dr Azam Khan, Registrar of JSMU, thanked the guest speakers for attending and praised the Institute of Nursing and Midwifery's efforts.
