DNA tests show two medical students murdered by same person

KARACHI: Nosheen Kazmi, a medical student at Chandika Medical College in Larkana, Sindh, who allegedly committed suicide in November 2021, had garment samples that matched those of Nimrata Kumrati, another medical student at the same college who was murdered in 2019.

The laboratory results were disclosed by Jamshoro Forensic and Molecular Laboratory. It is a watershed moment where friends and family suspect foul play in both cases. Both families asserted that the women were blackmailed before their deaths.

Namrita was a final-year Pakistani Hindu medical student at Chandika Medical College. She was discovered deceased in her hostel room in 2019 under unclear circumstances. Namrita was eventually proven to have been raped before her death, which was considered a homicide by the authorities.

Nosheen, who was also in her final year at Chandika Medical College at the time, was discovered hanging from the ceiling of her hostel room in November 2021, her feet almost reaching her desk. Due to her body's unusual position, Nosheen's family and classmates refused to believe she committed suicide.

The lab findings stated that the same individual most likely raped and murdered both Namrita and Nosheen.
