Arif Alvi encourages education on oral hygiene

ISLAMABAD: Arif Alvi, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, stated that the best way to address health issues in Pakistan, particularly dental diseases, was to emphasise the significance of prevention above curative medical treatment.

At the commencement ceremony for the Foundation University College of Dentistry, he stated that implementing preventive measures against disease will help lower the number of patients dramatically. Arif Alvi stated that dental illnesses in the country might be substantially eradicated by educating the populace on the importance of oral hygiene and frequent brushing. He noted that appropriate dental hygiene contributed to the body's natural defence mechanism, reducing the likelihood of several other ailments.

He emphasised the significance of educating youngsters about dental care at school so that they will prioritise their health. In this regard, he emphasised the need for community involvement in spreading the word and advised physicians to treat their patients with effective communication and compassion.

Arif Alvi praised the professionalism of the nation's physicians and dentists for contributing to improving public health. Further, Arif Alvi thanked the young dentists, their parents, and their teachers for their historic accomplishment and was pleased with the considerable number of female graduates.

However, he noted that a considerable proportion of female physicians quit their professions after marriage, significantly losing valuable human resources for the nation.

Arif Alvi urged institutions to implement a 'realistic' solution, such as allowing part-time work for doctors to help them maintain their careers while raising their children.

The event highlighted the Foundation University College of Dentistry's mission to educate, conduct research, and contribute to the national and worldwide dentistry community.

Arif Alvi presented medals to the illustrious graduates who attained first place in the bachelor of dentistry field.
