Sindh Bar Council's insurance initiative for lawyers is a great step: Murtaza

KARACHI: Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Administrator Karachi, stated that the medical insurance of lawyers registered with the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) was a considerable effort of the Sindh Government that would assist the legal fraternity.

The Administrator said in a meeting with Muhammad Hasan Akbar, Advocate General of Sindh, and Muhammad Umar Soomro, Secretary of the High Court Bar Association, the Sindh government believes in the welfare of the people associated with the legal sector, and all possible steps will be taken to ensure their well-being.

During the meeting, the availability of medical insurance for all SBC-registered attorneys was reviewed, along with the current status.

Meanwhile, Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that the National Day of Minorities provides a chance to reaffirm our commitment to protecting minority rights.

He added that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, had pledged the preservation of the rights of minorities in the nation. Hence minorities in Pakistan enjoy all types of legal rights, the Administrator stated in his message commemorating the National Day of Minorities.

He asserted that the minority population played a crucial part in the growth and prosperity of Karachi, Sindh province, and Pakistan.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab commented, A five percent quota is set for minorities in government employment, and seats are earmarked for minorities in the Senate, National, and Provincial Assemblies so they can have representation.

He remarked that a considerable number of Christians and Hindus were playing vital roles in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and other municipal organizations.

Minority members, according to Wahab, play a significant role in the growth of these institutions and the city's advancement. He stated that Islam likewise places emphasis on protecting the rights of minorities.

Based on Islam, the Pakistani constitution also guarantees the rights of minority groups. The Administrator also stated that the minority population has absolute freedom from the government to live according to their beliefs. He hoped that members of the minority population would continue to contribute to the country's growth.
