Karachi City Court releases all arrested healthcare professionals

KARACHI: The Judicial Magistrate of South Karachi has ordered the release of all detained physicians, nurses, and paramedics.

The police handed the detained doctors and paramedical personnel before the Karachi city court. The police handed the arrested demonstrators before the court for remand.

The court ordered the release of all the detained medical professionals. Attorney Nawaz Dahri, speaking on behalf of the demonstrators, stated that the court released all arrested doctors and other employees under Section 63. The protest of the Grand Health Alliance resumed on the 28th day, and the protestors vowed to continue to demonstrate in front of the Karachi Press Club until their demands were met.

Earlier, many healthcare workers were hurt owing to the deployment of a lathi charge and water cannon; nonetheless, more than 200 health workers were detained.

The Sindh government also constituted a four-member committee comprising Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Shah, Secretary of Health, and Secretary of Finance. However, after yesterday's failure of negotiations, demonstrators blocked the entrance to the Sindh Secretariat.

Notable demands of the Grand Health Alliance include the reinstatement of risk allowance and the promotion of physicians, paramedics, and nurses.
