Caretaker Health Minister visits Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology  

LAHORE: Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Punjab Dr Javed Akram and Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Punjab Dr Jamal Nasir visited Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) and Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU). 

Vice Chancellor RMU Dr Muhammad Umar and Executive Director RIC Dr Anjum Jalal gave separate briefings about Rawalpindi Medical University and Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology

Speaking on the occasion, Caretaker Health Minister Punjab Dr Javed Akram said that RIC and RMU Rawalpindi are such institutions that have a prominent place in the whole country, every Pakistani is proud of them and they have won a special pace in the national service.  

He said that the caretaker government of Punjab is keen to improve the health sector and all necessary steps are being taken. He said that the facility of 24-hour angiography and angioplasty should be ensured in RIC and the interim government is also trying to provide this facility in other cardiology hospitals of Punjab. 

Minister of Primary and Secondary Health Dr Jamal Nasir said that he studied from Rawalpindi Medical University and now he considers it his duty to use his full energies for the improvement in this institution. He said that Dr Muhammad Umar is serving this institution in the true sense and he as a minister will make every effort to establish RMU Dental College, improve transport service and increase the number of hostels. 

On the occasion of the visit to RIC, caretaker Health Minister Punjab Dr Javed Akram said that the plan to establish a modern pharmacy in RIC is very important and its implementation will be ensured.  He said that the establishment of RIC-2 and RIC-3 projects in Rawalpindi will revolutionize the medical facilities for heart disease in the area. Dr Jamal Nasir said that in RIC, angiography or angioplasty is done in 15 minutes and more than 2700 patients visit the OPD every day.  He said that not only the citizens of Rawalpindi and Islamabad but also the citizens of Gilgit-Baltistan, KPK and Azad Kashmir benefit from RIC. 

The caretaker provincial ministers Dr Javed Akram and Dr Jamal Nasir visited the emergency department and other parts of RIC and interacted with the patients and their companions about the health facilities.
