NDMA alerts Sindh and Balochistan ahead of Monsoon

ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued warning on the subject of Vigorous Monsoon to Sindh and Balochistan.

As per a representative of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong weather activity is expected during the next 24-72 hours over Hub Dam catchment areas, Karachi, and the Arabian Sea. Owing to the predicted/anticipated rain during the said period, NDMA has issued instructions to concerned Federal Ministries / Departments, respective Provincial Governments, and their line departments, including PIDs, PDMAs, and DDMAs in Sindh and Balochistan, to remain watchful and prepared. 

The concerned departments/management of Hub Dam are advised to ensure safe discharge of water as per SOPs to accommodate the additional inflow of water from catchment areas. Ensure timely evacuation of at-risk population downstream in case of any emergency, as per evacuation plans, and inform the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan not to venture out in the open sea.
