PM Shahbaz Sharif condemns attack on polio team in KP

PESHAWAR: In the Tank district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, two policemen died in an attack on a polio team.

According to media sources, Pir Rehman and Nisar were defending the polio team in the Tank district when they came under fire from armed individuals.

Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, vehemently condemned the attack on a polio team in Tank and conveyed his condolences to the family of martyred police officers.

"The nation honours the tremendous sacrifices made by police," He stated.

Monday marked the beginning of a nationwide anti-polio campaign in Karachi, Hyderabad, and six districts of South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North and South Waziristan, DI Khan, and Tank.

This year, 14 cases of polio have been reported in Pakistan, and they are all located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
