Sindh announces new regulations amid COVID-19

KARACHI: To deter the Omicron strain of COVID-19 from spreading across the country, the Government of Sindh had announced regulations to adopt new decisions made by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Only immunized persons would be allowed to attend public gatherings, visit wedding halls, shopping malls, and hotels, and use a variety of other facilities such as sports, shrines, gyms, and cinemas, according to a notice issued.

In Karachi, Sanghar, and Sukkur, a maximum of 500 people would be allowed to attend indoor rallies. In comparison, a total of 1,000 people would be allowed to attend outdoor gatherings, according to the statement.

It also stated that markets and other businesses would be permitted to open until 10 pm (22:00). However, emergency services could continue their operations beyond 10 pm (22:00).

According to the official announcement, public parks may remain open with a maximum occupancy of 70%, while public transportation may maintain occupancy of 80%.

According to the provincial government, district administrations may enforce lockdown in their jurisdiction with strict COVID-19 regulations depending on risk assessments.
