200 more dengue cases surface in Karachi

KARACHI: At least 200 new dengue cases emerged across the Sindh province in a week out of 188 were reported in Karachi alone and 12 from other districts.

The Vector Borne Diseases Department of Directorate General Health Services, Sindh registered 200 dengue fever cases across the Sindh province from 30 November to 6 December out of which 188 were registered in Karachi and 12 in other districts.

The VBD has registered a total of 3,755 dengue cases from all over the Sindh province since 1 January to 6 December 2020 in Sindh out of which 3,564 surfaced in Karachi and 191 in other districts of the province so far.

In Karachi, District East on top with 62 dengue cases this month so far followed by District South, District Central, District Korangi, District West, and District Malir, respectively.

Most of the cases have been reported from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Saddar, Defence, and Gulberg areas of the city.

A death due to dengue fever was also reported in Karachi this year so far.
