September 22 to mark the opening of IPVS Satellite Symposium

KARACHI: Thursday (September 22) will mark the beginning of a three-day IPVS Satellite Symposium on "Human Papillomavirus and Cervical Cancer" at the University of Karachi's International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS).

Azra Fazal Pechuho, Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare, will open the Symposium at the Prof. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium of the ICCBS, University of Karachi, at precisely 12Noon, followed by a Press Conference.

The IPVS Satellite Symposium is being organised by the Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD). Dr Panjwani Center, Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences and General Coordinator of COMSTECH, made these remarks.

Prof. Dr Khalid Iraqi, Prof. Dr Atta-ur Rahman, ICCBS Patron-in-chief and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, Chairperson Dr Panjwani Memorial Trust Ms Nadira Panjwani, Chairman Husein Ebrahim Jamal Foundation Mr Aziz Latif Jamal, and foreign scholars will also speak at the inaugural ceremony.

Prof. Dr Choudhary, speaking on human papillomavirus and cervical cancer, stated, "According to the World Health Organization, more than 95 per cent of cervical cancer is caused by the human papillomavirus" (HPV). The most prevalent viral infection of the reproductive system is HPV."

Cervical cancer is by far the most prevalent illness caused by HPV. Almost all occurrences of cervical cancer are caused by HPV infection.
