Staff of Sindh Hepatitis Program (HPCP) Unrewarded

KARACHI- The staff of Hepatitis Prevention and Control Program (HPCP), Sindh, has not been paid their due salaries since the last three months as the Department of Finance, Sindh, failed to release funds for the continuation of the program.


The salary situation of around three dozen employees associated with this program is still unresolved, reportedly due to shortage of funds. In result, the lower grade staff of Hepatitis Program has been facing grave hardships leading to financial crises.


A score of registered Hepatitis C patients have been subjected to a great deal of suffering, as the medicines used to treat this condition are currently unavailable at the Hepatitis Centers of HPCP Sindh, since last month.


Media Coordinator, Hepatitis Prevention and Control Program, Sindh, Mr. Khurram Khan confirmed this news and further revealed that the lower staff, who has been working for this program on contract basis, has also been deprived of their monthly salaries.


Upon going through the issue of shortage of medicaments, he added that the supply of Hepatitis C medicines to the centers across Sindh province would start within the upcoming two weeks.
