Anti Polio drive begins across province

KARACHI: Murad Ali Shah, chief minister of Sindh, has asked parents to cooperate with polio teams that would knock on their doors to administer polio drops to children under the age of five to rescue them from the paralyzing disease.

He stated this in a message to the parents shortly after launching a week-long anti-polio campaign at the CM House.

On this occasion, Minister Health Azra Pechuho, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, Adl IG Karachi Javed Odho, Secretary Health Zulfiqar Shah, and Coordinator EOC Faiaz Abbasi were present.

In the past two years, no new polio cases have been reported in Sindh, but the disease has not yet been eradicated from Pakistan.

"We have succeeded in controlling polio with the help of parents, the health department, the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for Eradication of Polio, and the door-to-door campaign by polio workers," he said, urging parents to cooperate with the teams visiting their homes to administer the polio vaccine to their children."

The Emergency Operations Center of the Department of Health has initiated a week-long anti-polio campaign from October 24 to 30 in 21 districts and partially in the flood-affected districts of Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Kambar.
