Nestlé Pakistan commemorated World Cleanup Day in Karachi

KARACHI: Nestlé Pakistan commemorated World Cleanup Day with a beach cleaning activity at Sea View Beach, Karachi, under its global employee volunteer program Nestlé Cares, in partnership with National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH). 

Nestlé's global aim for a trash-free future, Nestlé Pakistan's Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Waqar Ahmad, stated, "We are speeding our efforts to reduce the environmental effect of packaging waste of all types. Our goal is for none of our packaging, including plastics, to end up in landfills or waterways."

"Over the years, thousands of Nestlé employees worldwide have volunteered their time to activities with a good impact on individuals, families, communities, and the environment. Nestlé Cares is one of the ways we live out our mission and values. He added that volunteer activities under Nestle Cares allow employees to make an impact by engaging with and aiding local communities. he added.

Saleem Hassan Wattoo, CEO of the Clifton Cantonment Board, stated on one occasion, "We are thrilled with how Nestlé Pakistan is playing a responsible role; we encourage corporate and private sector groups to approach us so that we may assist them with such projects."

President of the NFEH Naeem Qureshi stated, "This cleanup initiative with Nestlé is in keeping with our long-term goal and commitment to limit trash seepage into the environment and prevent future accumulation of packaging debris in the natural environment."

The exercise was also attended by the administrator of the Karachi District Municipal Corporation South, Dr Afshan Rubab, the additional commissioner of Karachi, Jawwad Muzaffar, government officials, members of civil society, and community volunteers.

By 2025, Nestlé aims to establish a waste-free future by ensuring that all of its packaging are either recyclable or reused.
