ISLAMABAD: The Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card, remarkable health insurance for the people of Islamabad, was introduced by Imran Khan, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

It provides medical treatment for up to one million rupees each year. Free medical care would be available to all residents of Islamabad, Punjab, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and Tharparkar under the initiative.

At a ceremony in Islamabad, Imran Khan handed out health insurance cards to those in need, calling the initiative an "ambitious programme" to empower the entire country.

While speaking at the event, he noted that universal health coverage was only offered in a few countries throughout the planet.

Imran Khan stated that introducing this facility was a significant turning point in pushing public and private hospitals to enhance their services by joining the medical network.

He stated that a health insurance programme would cost Rs450 billion. In light of the high mortality rates of neonatal and pregnancy complications, the government is establishing five mother and child hospitals.
