KARACHI: Private Nursing Institute Association of Pakistan (PNIAP) has rejected Sindh's domicile condition for admission to a private nursing college.

Addressing a press conference, the Head of Nimra Nursing College, Aslam Khan, said Pakistan's nursing field is already suffering from severe problems. There is a massive shortage of nursing staff in hospitals across the country, and the future of new students has been jeopardized by the Sindh domicile requirement of the Sindh government.

On this occasion, the owners and representatives of Indus College Hospital, Murshid, Liaquat National, Patel, Memon, Kharadar, Saifi College and Hospital, including General Secretary James Watt, Nazar Afridi, Muhammad Aslam Khan, Dr. Kafayat, Sher Khan, Kiniz Fatima, Abdul Wahid, Rasool Baksh, and others were also present.

President, Private Nursing Institute Association of Pakistan(PNIAP)  Qayyum Marwat said that only students with Sindh domicile could get medical education on behalf of the Sindh government. In contrast, talented children of the rest of the province cannot get an education in Sindh.

On this occasion, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Ali Ahmad Jan, assured to solve the concerns of Nursing Colleges in this regard. He said the Sindh government had started practical action, and this problem would be solved soon.

It should be noted that nursing colleges are under the jurisdiction of the PNC Pakistan Nursing Council, it has nothing to do with the Sindh government, yet the condition of the Sindh domicile is required for private colleges.
