Computerized, online systems installed for better management at NICH

Karachi: Director National Institute of Child Health (NICH) Prof Dr Jamal Raza, on Tuesday announced that NICH management recently has introduced online test services for patients which will be beneficial for both, the patients as well as the doctors, and will pave way for the improvement of the health delivery system.

Addressing the media, Prof Jamal Raza said all the medical test facilities have been linked with online services to improve health delivery system at NICH and to utilize the patients’ and doctors’ time generally wasted during emergency hours. He said all the departments of hospitals have been linked through online service. 

He further stated that the administration is also planning to computerize the pharmacy department to prevent drug theft and to monitor the stock. He said that these steps have been taken on the complaints of medicines theft and sale. He said NICH administration had also introduced separate drug packaging with the hospital logo in past, and was now planning to computerize all systems to monitor the pharmacy department.

He added that the hospital management has recently installed an underground water tanker with water capacity of 100,000 gallons with the help of generous donors, in order to overcome the long-standing water shortage issue at NICH.

He said that there is no shortage of medicines at the hospital and administration has already purchased drugs for first quarter of the year, and all incubators and ventilators at the institution are fully functional as well.

He said public sector hospitals were facing multiple challenges, while the administration of hospital is working diligently to provide maximum facilities to patients in limited resources.
