KARACHI- Nurses Welfare Association, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), recently staged a protest demonstration at the Senior Director Health and Medical Services' office, led by President KMC Nurses Welfare Association, Karam Hussain alongside other office bearers.

Nurses came out to protest in order to make the authorities aware of their long due demands, such as time scale promotions, up gradation and filling of nursing posts, followed by the request of appointing Principals in Nursing Institutes based on merit.

All the nurses serving in KMC run hospitals like Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, KIHD, Spencer Eye Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital and other associated health facilities, participated in this protest demonstration.

Since many years, the Nursing Profession and currently serving nurses have been deprived of their due rights; said Karam Hussain, President KMC Nurses Welfare Association. He added that they have been neglected, with their demands still unfulfilled.

Senior Director, Health and Medical Services Department, KMC, Dr Birbal Genani requested the nurses to resume their duties as their demands will soon be met after acquiring an approval from the Secretary Health of Sindh and Local Government.
