KARACHI: The Pakistan Stroke Society (PSS) has introduced a data registry to record stroke cases through a smart-phone based mobile application in Pakistan.

Eminent Neurologist and General Secretary, PSS, Prof Dr Muhammad Wasay said that the PSS had introduced a data registry to register stroke cases, and 40 centres are sharing data from all over the country via a mobile-based app, which was launched a few months ago for the job.

He informed that there was no national and provincial level data available in the country in the past; therefore, the data registry has started to register stroke cases and make a national-level comprehensive policy to avoid stroke cases.

He further explained that millions of people live with risk factors that can cause strokes, and there is an urgent need to adopt primary prevention strategies to control the prevalence of strokes in society.
