4M Children to be covered - 4-day anti-polio drive begins in Sindh: Dahar

KARACHI - Four million children are being covered during a four-day campaign launched against polio in 14 districts of Sindh on Oct 12, the provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said here.


In a statement issued, he said that the anti-polio drive has been launched in Hyderabad, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Naushero Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur and Kambar. 


Giving break-up of number of children already covered in various localities of Karachi during the drive, the minister said these include 93,130 children in Baldia, 120,553 in Bin Qasim, 71,446 in Gadap, 63,735 in Gulberg, 91,628 in Gulshan-e- Iqbal, 30,140 in Keamari, 57,643 in Korangi, 36,033 in Landhi, 28,433 in Liaquatabad, 30,643 in Malir, 17,288 in North Nazimabad, 45,764 in North Karachi, 92,498 in Orangi, 7,381 in Saddar and 120,273 children in the SITE area.


DENGUE: He also stated that after completing the first phase of drive against dengue virus, its second phase to be undertaken in all districts of the province will begin shortly.
