Ahmadi Doctor Shot dead in Chenab Nagar Punjab

LAHORE: In the town of Chenab Nagar in Punjab, a 50 year old heart surgeon, – Mehdi Ali, belonging to the beleaguered Ahmedi community, was shot dead by unknown assailants. It appears to be a case of sectarian violence. Dr. Mehdi Ali was a resident of the United States, and was currently visiting Pakistan for voluntary work at the Tahir Cardiac Hospital – an institution built with the support of Dr. Mehdi Ali himself.

According to reports; the doctor was attacked while he was visiting his ancestral graveyard with his family. Two gunmen riding on a motorbike fired at him outside the Ahmadi graveyard. Police sources have stated that; The incident occurred early morning on 26th May. The assailants fled the scene after shooting 11 bullets at the Doctor, while the doctor's family remained unharmed.
