AMTF voices concern over rise in thalassaemia cases

KARACHI- Voicing concern over increasing number of thalassaemia cases in the country, Afzaal Memorial Thalassaemia Foundation’s (AMTF) general secretary Abdullah Abid has urged the government to implement thalassaemia law in letter and spirit to wipe out the disease from the country. 

He was speaking at a blood screening camp organised by AMTF to mark the International Thalassaemia Day. The AMTF’s acting CEO Dr Tariq Aziz, Neurologist Dr Abdul Maalik, Dr Nadeem Nusrat and Rehan Yaseen were also present on this occasion. A speech contest was also held to create awareness among children suffering from thalassaemia and general public.

About the AMTF, he said that the organization was serving children suffering from thalasssemia since 2003 and over 800 thalassaemia patients registered with the Foundation were being provided treatment facilities.
