Karachi : In yet another high-profile murder incident, Doctor Haider Raza of Dar us Sehat Hospital was gunned down by unidentified assailants right in front of the Hospital he served for many years. Another person who was with Dr. Raza in his car was also injured in the ruthless attack. Apparently, this was a crime of sectarian violence where this Shia doctor was murdered in cold blood.
Besides the killing of Dr. Raza, the city of Karachi also saw 11 more murders on wednesday including three students of a madressa were killed near Continental Bakery in Gulistan e Jauhar. Several other people were injured in various violent incidents around the Metropolis.
To make the situation worse, an enraged crowd took to the streets after the incident and set ablaze many push carts and forced local shop keepers to close their businesses. Police and Rangers personnel reached the site to disperse the angry mob.
Responding to this sectarian crime, the Jafaria Alliance and Pakistan Shia Ulema Council fiercely condemned the attack and demanded the arrest of these culprits at the earliest.
The largest metropolitan city of Pakistan – Karachi is facing frequent targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and sectarian violence. Targeted operations led by Rangers and other law enforcement agencies, with the support of police are being conducted all over the city, in accordance to a directive issued by the federal government. The operations are aimed at apprehending the criminals and putting an end to this wave of terror.
