MN Report
KARACHI-  Surgeons have successfully transplanted livers into three children at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

All the recipients are making speedy progress whereas the donors of the organ are also doing well.

Seven-year-old Mohammad Bilal received liver from his father Mohammad Iqbal; 10-year-old Ahsan Aslam got an organ from his mother Kishwar Aslam, while fiver-year-old Ahsan Ali Haider also received the liver from his mother Nazia Ali Haider.

The entire surgical procedure and post-operation care caused no economic burden on the families of the recipients as the treatment was provided free of cost.

The successful procedure was performed by a team of SIUT surgeons along with a visiting team from the Shiraz Organ Transplant Centre which is one of the largest of its kind in the region.

Dr Malek Al-Husaini, who led the Iranian team, is the head of Shiraz Transplant Centre and an immediate past-President of the Middle-East Society of Organ Transplantation.
