Anti-Polio Drive Starts Across Sindh

KARACHI- The Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) for Polio in Sindh, has launched its 5th Polio Campaign of year 2018, covering all districts of  Sindh including Karachi.

The polio drive will cover approximately 8 million children across the province of Sindh, including about 2 million children of Karachi. More than 50,000 frontline workers (teams and area in-charges) are participating in the campaign; more than 8,000  in Karachi, whereas 5,000  police personnel have been deputed for security of polio teams across the province.

Total case count for polio within Pakistan in the year 2017 were 8, out of which 2 cases were from Karachi, Sindh. This, most certainly was a historical low for the country’s polio status.

There have been 0 cases so far, from Sindh in 2018 and only one Polio case has been reported from province of Baluchistan.
