Anti-Quackery Drive Kicks Off in Karachi

KARACHI-Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) has launched anti-quackery drive in Karachi. According to the Chief Executive Officer of Sindh Health Care Commission, Dr Minhaj Qidwai, four healthcare establishments have already been sealed in the town of Saddar.

The Anti-Quackery (AQ) Directorate of SHCC initiated the anti-quackery campaign in the southern district of the city and since its launch, has been effectively leading operations.

Surprise visits were paid to 17 healthcare establishments out of which four were sealed on the spot while notices were served to six other clinics. Seven establishments were deemed suitable for operations after a thorough document verification procedure.

An estimated 20 to 25 establishment owners and suspected quacks fled the scene instantly upon seeing the Sindh Health Care Commission team.

The anti-quackery team comprised of the Deputy Director of Inspection & Enforcement, the Deputy Director Medical Expert in collaboration with the District Health Officer (DHO) South as well as law enforcement agencies operating under the directions of Director AQ.

The SHCC AQ team has conducted raids in the recent past in five districts of Sindh province including Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan and Badin wherein 85 healthcare establishments were sealed, and notices served to 295 others.
