Breast Cancer awareness workshop organized at Ziauddin Hospital

Karachi: Assistant Professor, Ziauddin Hospital Karachi, Dr Lubna Mushtaque Vohra said that early detection and diagnosis is the best prevention of breast cancer. Early detection of symptoms subsequently decreases the chances of cancer development.

She shared these views while addressing an awareness workshop organized by Ziauddin Hopstial Karachi. She said Pakistan unfortunately has the highest incidences of breast cancer in Asia.

Speaking to the audience regarding the taboo that breast cancer is in the Pakistani society today, Dr Tariq Siddique, Director of Oncology, Ziauddin Hospital shared his knowledge and expertise on the subject, and informed participants about the proper means of approaching the issue.

Dr Tariq stressed that all women should approach a lady doctor should they experience any problems or abnormalities as soon as they possibly can. Any procrastination in such cases can have life threatening implications, he explained. 

Dr Muhammad Kashif Shazlee and Dr Fouzia Lateef also spoke on the occasion.

Experts encouraged students to work as volunteers in order to raise awareness on the topic, and organize knowledge-based programs throughout the year especially in rural areas and villages with practical demonstration of self breast examination.

The workshop was attended by large number of people who gained valuable insights and expert advice on breast cancer and its management.
